About us

Where we started

Our first meeting was held via Zoom in December 2021. Following Sol’s attendance at another book club in Manchester, she saw the need for something similar in Liverpool and set up Feminist Fiction Liverpool. Now, almost four years later, we meet monthly (in person!) at the wonderful Yamama on Upper Parliament Street in Liverpool city centre.

Chapters

Following the success of Feminist Fiction Liverpool, Sol worked with book lovers across the UK and beyond to set up their own chapters. We now have Feminist Fiction chapters in Berlin, Leeds, Wirral and a second Liverpool chapter (who also meet monthly at Yamama). While our chapter currently has a waiting list, some of our other chapters may have availability.

Our hosts

Sol

“I love food, yoga, reading and being in nature. My favourite part of the book club meetings is hearing different opinions and thoughts on the story. I love that it challenges me and I always learn something new.”

Sara

“I love history, music, coffee and a long walk. If you don’t find me in a bookshop, you’ll find me on a walk, with my AirPods in and a coffee in my hand. I’ve been a member of the book club since 2022, and have loved every minute of this community that has been so lovingly curated.”

Our work in the community

As a book club, it’s an important part of our ethos to give back to our local community. We regularly organise charity fundraising events, and have raised over £5,000 for various local charities, including Gyro, Whisc, The Reader, and more. Any surplus from our ticket sales for the monthly book club is donated to a chosen charity once a quarter.
